Job Description

Join Amazon / AWS in Auckland and kick-start your career building planet-scale cloud services used by millions. As a Graduate Software Development Engineer, you will:

• Own full-stack software delivery end-to-end—from requirements to production.
• Design, code, test, and deploy high-availability, low-latency distributed systems on AWS.
• Collaborate in an inclusive, diverse, and agile global engineering team.
• Experiment, learn fast, and solve real-world big-data and e-commerce challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain microservices using Java / C++ on Linux / UNIX.
• Optimize algorithms, multithreaded performance, and Relational / NoSQL databases.
• Write clean, maintainable code; conduct code reviews and automated testing.
• Partner with product managers, UX, and SREs to deliver customer-obsessed features.
• Drive DevOps excellence with CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and AWS Lambda.

Required Skills

• Strong OO design, data-structures, and algorithmic problem-solving.
• Proficiency in Java / C / C++; scripting with Python, Perl, or Bash a plus.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and cloud networking.
• Ability to tackle ambiguous problems and communicate technical solutions clearly.

Preferred Skills

• Development experience on AWS (EC2, S3, DynamoDB, ECS, EKS).
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and event-driven architectures.
• Passion for machine learning, serverless computing, or edge computing.
