About the Role

The Cloud Engineer at Abbott will play a critical role in driving cloud initiatives using AWS technologies to support the company’s advanced analytics and AI strategy. You'll be part of the global Advanced Analytics team headquartered in Basel, directly impacting data-driven transformation across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop applications leveraging AWS cloud services.
  • Maintain robust, scalable data pipelines from exploration to deployment.
  • Acquire and process data from multiple systems with high integrity and security.
  • Work closely with Data Scientists and AI Engineers to support analytics solutions.
  • Implement secure, modular infrastructure and automation tools.
  • Define and maintain best practices for cloud deployment.
  • Drive continuous improvement in AWS-based platforms.
  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues and optimize performance.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3–5 years in AWS cloud development and infrastructure.
  • Proficient in JavaScript, Python, Scala, PySpark, or Java.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • AWS ecosystem & services (e.g., Lambda)
    • ETL tools and data warehousing
    • DevOps practices (Jenkins, Terraform)
    • Serverless architecture
    • CI/CD environments
    • NoSQL and relational databases
  • Experience in:
    • ReactJS, Django, Flask, or Node.js
    • RESTful API development
    • Tools like CodeCommit
  • Deep understanding of information and data security practices.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English (additional languages a plus).
